Divya Shakti Trophy Day 2: UP, Vidarbha, Rajasthan Win

The second day of the BCCI-supported Divya Shakti Sugamya Bharat Trophy witnessed high-octane cricketing action in Varanasi on Sunday. Four thrilling matches unfolded across two grounds of the Banaras Hindu University, setting the stage for an exciting tournament climax.

Commanding Victories at BHU Amphitheatre Ground

The amphitheatre ground hosted two matches that saw dominant performances. In the first encounter, Uttar Pradesh faced Chhattisgarh. Winning the toss, the UP captain opted to field first. Their bowlers delivered a superb performance, bundling out the Chhattisgarh team for a mere 87 runs in the 15th over. In response, the Uttar Pradesh batters chased down the target with ease, reaching it in just 7.02 overs with eight wickets in hand.

The second match at this venue featured Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. Vidarbha's captain won the toss and chose to bat, setting a formidable total of 164 runs. Chasing this big score, the Chhattisgarh team struggled from the outset. Despite a fighting innings of 41 runs off 23 balls from Gajju Nag, they could not overcome the pressure and fell short, handing Vidarbha a convincing win.

Thrilling Finishes at Ruiya Medical Ground

Over at the Ruiya Medical ground, the drama unfolded with nail-biting finishes. The first match saw Rajasthan take on Madhya Pradesh. Rajasthan, batting first after winning the toss, posted 133 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 15 overs. In reply, the Madhya Pradesh batting lineup faltered, managing only 84 runs for 8 wickets in 15 overs, giving Rajasthan a comprehensive victory.

The final match of the day was a cliffhanger. Rajasthan, playing their second game, faced Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand won the toss and set a target of 115 runs for the loss of four wickets in 15 overs. The chase went down to the wire, with the Rajasthan team holding their nerve to achieve the target on the very last ball, sealing a thrilling three-wicket win.
