Cricket Set to Return to Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium After Government Approval

Law Minister H K Patil, speaking after the cabinet meeting, stated, "Keeping in mind the D’Cunha Committee report and the recommendations of the expert committee, the home department will issue a detailed order outlining the conditions that KSCA must meet." This indicates that the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) will need to adhere to specific safety and infrastructure requirements to ensure the smooth conduct of matches.

The state government had previously barred KSCA from staging matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium after a tragic incident on June 4, 2025. During RCB's IPL victory celebrations, a stampede outside the venue resulted in the loss of 11 lives. This led to a comprehensive review of safety measures and infrastructure at the stadium.
The Justice D’Cunha Committee had recommended 17 safety measures, classified into short-term and long-term requirements, with a deadline set for March 15. These measures were crucial in the government's decision-making process.

Earlier in the day, Home Minister G Parameshwara held a two-hour meeting with representatives from KSCA, RCB, and officials from the government-appointed panel.
