BSF Thwarts Drone Smuggling Bid Near Amritsar

The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted a drone smuggling attempt near the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar district on Tuesday night. Acting on intelligence, BSF personnel intercepted a suspected drone that had crossed into Indian territory from Pakistan. The drone was forced to land in an agricultural field near the border fence in the Rajatala area.

Recovery of Weapons

Upon searching the area, the BSF recovered a sophisticated pistol, two magazines, and 11 live rounds of ammunition. The recovered items were wrapped in a plastic bag attached to the drone. Officials believe the consignment was intended for anti-national elements operating in the region.

Ongoing Investigation

A senior BSF officer stated that the drone was detected by surveillance equipment, and quick action by the troops prevented the delivery. The recovered items have been handed over to local police for further investigation. The BSF has intensified patrolling and aerial surveillance in the sector to counter such cross-border smuggling attempts.
