Bareilly Zone Crowned Champions in Thrilling Police Cricket Final
In an exciting display of cricketing talent, the Bareilly zone team has been crowned the winner of the 26th Uttar Pradesh Police Annual Cricket Championship 2025. The team secured the prestigious title by defeating a strong Meerut zone side in the tournament final, which was held at the iconic Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
Tournament Details and Road to the Final
The championship was a four-day event, running from December 9 to 12, and was organized under the Kanpur Commissionerate. A total of 12 police zones from across Uttar Pradesh participated in the competition, showcasing the sporting spirit within the force. 11 matches were played across two venues: the Green Park Stadium and the DAV College ground, PAC 37th Battalion.
ADG of Bareilly Zone, Ramit Sharma, provided these details to the media. The path to the final saw Meerut zone triumph over Prayagraj zone in the semifinals. On the other side of the draw, Bareilly zone secured their spot in the title clash by defeating the PAC Eastern zone.
The Title Clash: A Chase to Remember
The final match was a classic T20 encounter. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Meerut zone set a competitive target of 166 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The Bareilly zone batsmen, however, rose to the occasion with a determined chase. They successfully reached the target, scoring 172 runs in just 18.5 overs, to clinch the championship in a convincing manner.
