Bangladesh Withdraws Mustafizur Rahman's PSL NOC, Focuses on Fitness
Bangladesh Withdraws Mustafizur's PSL NOC for Fitness

Bangladesh have taken significant decisions regarding their pace bowlers after the ODI series against New Zealand, focusing on fitness and upcoming international commitments.

Mustafizur Rahman's Injury and PSL Withdrawal

Mustafizur Rahman, one of Bangladesh's most experienced pacers, is dealing with an injury. After examination by the team's medical staff, he has been advised to undergo an immediate scan. Following that, he will begin a rehabilitation program under the Bangladesh Cricket Board's medical team.

Due to this situation, the BCB has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate that allowed him to participate in PSL 2026. Consequently, Mustafizur will not feature in the remainder of the league, as the board prioritizes his full fitness for national duties over risking further injury.

Focus on Long-Term Fitness

The BCB has taken a similar approach with young fast bowler Nahid Rana, deciding not to release him for PSL 2026 either. The aim is to give him adequate preparation time for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan. These decisions highlight the board's priority to manage player workload and ensure key bowlers are in optimal condition for international cricket.

Fresh Faces Get a Chance

Bangladesh have announced their squad for the first two T20I matches against New Zealand, starting April 27 in Chattogram. With senior pacers like Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Nahid Rana rested, selectors have opted to test new talent.

All-rounder Abdul Gaffar Saqlain has received his maiden T20I call-up, offering batting depth and a pace option. Pacer Ripon Mondal has also been included after impressing with his consistency, especially in death overs. Led by Litton Das, the squad features a mix of experienced names and emerging players as Bangladesh look to build bench strength.
