Abhishek Sharma Reveals Preparation Behind Australia Success

The Making of a Series Hero

Abhishek Sharma's remarkable performance in India's recent T20I series against Australia wasn't a stroke of luck but the culmination of dedicated preparation and unwavering self-belief. The 25-year-old left-handed batsman, who earned the prestigious Player of the Series award in India's rain-affected 2-1 victory, disclosed that he had undergone extensive training to conquer the challenging Australian conditions.

Months of Strategic Preparation

"I have been anticipating this series for quite some time," Abhishek revealed after India secured the series in Brisbane on Saturday. "When I learned about our T20I tour to Australia, I felt tremendous excitement." The young cricketer explained that throughout his career, he recognized Australia as batting-friendly conditions, but he specifically wanted to prepare himself for the unique challenges posed by Australian fast bowlers and bouncy pitches.

His preparation involved both mental and technical aspects, focusing particularly on handling high pace and exceptional bounce. "To excel in cricket and contribute significantly to your team, you must confront world-class bowlers," Abhishek emphasized when questioned if Josh Hazlewood's absence in the final three matches made batting easier for Indian players.

Consistent Performance and Team Support

The Punjab opener accumulated 163 runs across five appearances, maintaining consistency at the top of the order despite two matches being washed out due to weather conditions. He credited India's team management for providing him with clear direction and the confidence to play freely.

"The captain and coaching staff have given me absolute clarity and the confidence to simply go out and express myself," Abhishek shared. "As a batsman, when you're regularly scoring 20s and 30s, you know you can build bigger innings, but having the clarity to establish momentum for the team has truly benefited my game."

World Cup Dreams and Team Recognition

Looking toward the future, Abhishek stated that this successful series has strengthened his determination to earn a spot in next year's T20 World Cup squad. "Representing India in the World Cup would be a dream realized," he expressed with evident passion. "Since childhood, I've dreamed of winning the World Cup for India, and I will ensure I'm fully prepared for that tournament."

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav praised the collective team effort that enabled their comeback after losing the second T20I. "The manner in which every player contributed and how we rebounded from being 0-1 down deserves recognition - credit to all the team members," Yadav stated.

Australian captain Mitchell Marsh acknowledged India's performance, saying, "Overall, it was an excellent series. India clearly won the crucial matches - congratulations to them."

The series has undoubtedly positioned Abhishek Sharma as a rising star in Indian cricket, with his disciplined approach and impressive performances against quality opposition marking him as a player to watch in upcoming international competitions.
