A 22-year-old worker lost his life after being struck by a truck while watering plants on the median of the Pune-Mumbai highway. The tragic incident occurred near the Hindustan Antibiotics (HA) Colony in Pimpri on Thursday morning.
Details of the Accident
According to an officer from the Pimpri police, the victim, identified as Shyam Sundar, a resident of Dapodi, was watering plants on the median from a water tanker at around 7:30 am. The tanker had been halted along the road. A truck heading towards Pimpri hit Sundar, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.
Aftermath and Traffic Disruption
After hitting the victim, the truck crashed into the median and came to a stop. The accident led to significant traffic congestion on the highway, which is a major route connecting Pune and Mumbai. Police promptly shifted the truck off the highway and restored traffic movement to normal.
