The inaugural Cosco Kanpur District Badminton Championship wrapped up at the Green Park Stadium Badminton Hall on Sunday, showcasing emerging talent across various age categories. In a display of skill and determination, young athletes secured titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events, highlighting the growing popularity of badminton in the region.
U-19 Category Dominates with Stellar Performances
In the U-19 girls' singles final, Sanyukta Reddy demonstrated exceptional prowess, defeating Aral Dwivedi with scores of 15-12 and 15-9. On the boys' side, Mohd Yusuf delivered a commanding performance, overpowering Ayan Garg 15-13, 15-8 to claim the championship title. The doubles events saw further success for these winners, with Sanyukta Reddy partnering with Aditri Katiyar to beat Ishika Singh and Mahak Gautam 15-11, 15-7 for the girls' doubles crown.
Meanwhile, Ayush and Mohd Yusuf teamed up to secure the boys' doubles title, defeating Ayan Garg and Prakhar Maurya 15-12, 15-7. The mixed doubles category was won by Ayush and Aradhya, who edged out Prakhar and Aditri Katiyar 15-9, 15-9 in a closely contested match. Prizes were distributed by dignitaries including CDO Diksha Jain, Anubhav Singh, IPS, and Anjali Vishwaikarma, adding prestige to the event.
