Jaipur's Young Badminton Stars Triumph at National Ranking Tournament
Jaipur's emerging badminton players delivered an outstanding performance at the recently concluded Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (U-15 and U-17) Ranking Badminton tournament. The event, held at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur, saw local athletes clinch a total of one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, showcasing the city's growing talent in the sport.
Gold Medal Victory in Under-15 Boys Doubles
In a remarkable display of skill and endurance, the unseeded Jaipur duo of Vayam Lamba and Shreyansh Choudhary secured the gold medal in the Under-15 boys doubles category. Their path to victory was anything but easy, as they faced a tough challenge from Aditya Singh Negi of Uttarakhand and Samvit Ramesh of Jharkhand in the final.
The match turned into a marathon showdown, lasting an intense 72 minutes. Lamba and Choudhary ultimately prevailed with a nail-biting scoreline of 22-20, 26-28, 21-18, demonstrating exceptional resilience and teamwork under pressure.
Silver and Bronze Medals Add to Jaipur's Haul
Adding to the city's medal tally, Manan Sharma, a mixed doubles specialist from Jaipur, partnered with Inayat Gulati from Punjab to win the silver medal in the U-15 mixed doubles event. The pair put up a valiant fight in the summit clash but were narrowly defeated by the second-seeded duo from Tamil Nadu.
In the U-15 girls singles category, rising city shuttler Anvi Rathore claimed the bronze medal. Her journey ended in an exciting semi-final match, where she was upset by fifth-seeded Aryama Chakraborty of West Bengal in a closely contested battle with scores of 25-23, 22-20, 21-19.
Recognition and Rewards for the Champions
The achievements of these young athletes were celebrated by the Jaipur District Badminton Association (JDBA). Key officials, including president Anil Mehta, secretary Manoj Dasot, and treasurer Atul Gupta, felicitated the gold medal-winning players in a special ceremony.
As a token of appreciation, it was announced that both Vayam Lamba and Shreyansh Choudhary would receive Rs 11,000 each for their gold medal victory. Players who secured silver and bronze medals will also be awarded monetary prizes according to their achievements, encouraging further excellence in the sport.
On this occasion, the district association officials extended their congratulations to coaches Yadavendra Singh and Aman Kumawat, acknowledging their crucial role in nurturing these young talents. This event highlights Jaipur's potential as a hub for badminton development and the bright future of its athletes on the national stage.
