Guwahati: Gauhati University, in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, successfully conducted the All Assam Inter-University Badminton Tournament 2026 on May 8 and 9 at its campus. The two-day event witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 18 universities across the state, with nearly 200 players competing in various categories.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University. In his address, he emphasized the importance of sports in holistic education and encouraged students to pursue excellence both on and off the field. Men's Category Results
In the men's category, Cotton University emerged as the champion, demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork. Gauhati University finished as the first runner-up, while Dibrugarh University secured the second runner-up position. The matches were closely contested, highlighting the growing standard of badminton in the region.
Women's Category Results
In the women's category, Royal Global University claimed the championship title, followed by Assam down town University as the first runner-up. The performances were commendable, with players showcasing agility and strategic play throughout the tournament.
