Veer Ahlawat's Sensational 62 Seals Comeback Win at Jaipur Open 2025
Veer Ahlawat Wins Jaipur Open with Record 19-under Total

In a breathtaking display of golf, Veer Ahlawat staged a remarkable final-round comeback to win the Victorious Choice presents Jaipur Open 2025 powered by Shubhashish Homes on Friday. The Gurugram-based golfer shot a bogey-free eight-under 62 at the Rambagh Golf Club to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, finishing with a tournament-record total of 19-under 261.

A Record-Breaking Final Round Charge

Starting the day five shots behind the leader, Ahlawat needed something special. He delivered exactly that, matching his own tournament low score of 62 for the second time this week. His four-round tally of 19-under 261 broke the long-standing record for the lowest winning total at the Rambagh Golf Club, previously held by Sanjay Kumar who shot 16-under 264 in 2011.

Veer Ahlawat's final round was a masterclass in resilience and precision. After a relatively quiet front-nine with birdies on the sixth and eighth holes, he ignited on the back-nine, carding six birdies. The most crucial was a 14-foot putt for birdie on the 17th hole after a poor chip shot, a moment he later described as the "game-changer." This victory earned him the winner's purse of Rs 15 lakh and propelled him from 38th to 18th place in the PGTI Order of Merit.

Sandhu's Heartbreak and the Final Leaderboard

The day's drama unfolded as overnight leader Yuvraj Sandhu, who held a three-shot advantage, carded a 68. Sandhu, a five-time winner this season, led for most of the day but saw his challenge unravel with missed short putts on the final two holes, resulting in consecutive bogeys. He finished runner-up at 18-under 262, taking home a cheque of Rs 10 lakh. Despite the loss, Sandhu extended his lead at the top of the PGTI Order of Merit, with his season's earnings now at a staggering Rs 1,31,67,100.

Shaurya Bhattacharya secured third place with a score of 15-under 265 after a solid 64 in the final round. Local Jaipur professionals Prakhar Asawa (281) and Hemendra Choudhary (282) finished tied 45th and tied 47th, respectively.

DP World Tour Experience Pays Dividends

This win marks a triumphant return to the PGTI for Ahlawat, the 2024 Order of Merit champion, who spent the last season competing on the demanding DP World Tour. He credited that international experience for his growth. "The experience of playing on the DP World Tour has been very beneficial in terms of the international exposure," Ahlawat stated after his win. He also revealed a key technical adjustment made earlier in the week that transformed his driving, calling it the best aspect of his game throughout the tournament.

The Rs 1 crore event, supported by presenting partner Victorious Choice and powered by partner Shubhashish Homes, showcased the rising competitive standards in Indian professional golf. The PGTI's efforts to grow the sport are backed by tour partners including Rolex, Amul, and IndusInd Bank.
