Vadodara Marathon 2026: Comprehensive Traffic Diversions and Route Details
The Vadodara police have issued a detailed traffic advisory for the upcoming 13th Vadodara Marathon, scheduled for Sunday morning. With 81 road diversions planned along the marathon route, authorities are urging residents and commuters to plan their journeys carefully to avoid disruptions.
Event Flag-Off and Timing
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will officially flag off the marathon at 4 AM. The traffic restrictions will remain in effect until the conclusion of the event, ensuring the safety of participants and smooth conduct of the races.
Marathon Route and Starting Point
All marathon events will commence from Navlakhi Ground and conclude at the Solar Panel located at the Akota Dandia Bazar flyover. The full marathon covers a distance of 42 kilometers, while five shorter races will take place concurrently:
- 21.097-kilometer half marathon
- 10-kilometer run
- 5.65-kilometer timed run (45 minutes)
- Heritage fun run
- Gazra run
Major Restricted Routes
Key roads that will experience complete or partial restrictions include:
- Rajmahal Road
- Lalbaug flyover
- Akota Dandia Bazar flyover
The marathon route will navigate through several important city landmarks, including Kothi, Raopura, Tower, Jubilee Baug, Padmavati Shopping Centre, Lehripura Gate, MG Road, Mandvi Gate, Gendi Gate, Pratapnagar Bridge, Baroda Dairy, and Vishwamitri Road, among others.
Traffic Management and Access Points
To facilitate movement during the event, police have designated specific access points that will be managed by deployed personnel. These include:
- Tower in Raopura
- Gendigate
- Vihar Junction
- Pratapnagar bridge-Dabhoi road junction
- Baroda Dairy circle
- Gurudwara circle in Tarsali
Additional access points such as Bhavans Circle, Shreyas School Junction, Mujmahuda Circle, and Yoga Circle will help merge restricted routes with alternate pathways for traffic.
Alternate Routes for Commuters
During the marathon, traffic will be permitted on certain arterial roads, including:
- Bagikhana to Lalbaug bridge underpass to Avdhoot railway crossing
- Aradhana Cinema Road
- Dairy Den circle
- Jetalpur bridge underpass
- Productivity junction to Alkapuri
- Malhar point to Chakli circle
Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles and ST Buses
Heavy vehicles and ST buses have been completely barred from routes intersecting with the marathon. Specific diversions have been arranged for ST buses:
- Buses to and from Surat, Karjan, Chhota Udepur, Dabhoi, Rajpipla, and Waghodia will be redirected via Vadsar, Akshar Chowk, Atal Bridge to the Vadodara bus depot.
- Buses traveling to and from Padra and Jambusar will proceed to the Vadodara bus depot instead of Kirti Stambh, using Akshar Chowk and Race Course Road.
