The Udupi district is set to witness a vibrant convergence of sportsmanship and cultural talent among its rural administration officials. The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department will host a three-day sports meet and cultural festival exclusively for its taluk and district-level officials and employees.

The event is a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Karnataka State Panchayat Development Officers' Welfare Association, Udupi district. They are organising it in association with the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports from Udupi, along with gram panchayat secretaries, accounts assistants, and other staff members. District president of the Panchayat Development Officers' Association, Manjunath Shetty, confirmed the dates during a preparatory meeting. The festivities are scheduled to run from January 8 to January 10.
Sports Competitions: Cricket, Athletics, and More
The action kicks off on the first day, January 8, with sporting events at the Nejaru ground. The day will feature a cricket tournament for men and a throwball tournament for women.
On January 9, the focus shifts to the District Stadium in Ajjarakadu for a series of athletic competitions. The events planned include:
- 100m and 200m races

- Lemon-and-spoon race
- Sack race
- 100m fast walk
These events will be conducted in separate categories to ensure wide participation.
A Grand Cultural Finale
The final day, January 10, is dedicated to cultural expressions. A variety of cultural programmes will commence at 10:30 am at the prestigious Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium in Rajatadri. This segment promises to showcase the artistic talents of the panchayat department's workforce beyond their administrative roles.
This initiative aims to foster camaraderie, teamwork, and a healthy work-life balance among the officials and employees who form the backbone of rural governance in the district. It serves as a platform for them to unwind, compete, and celebrate their diverse talents together.
