UConn Huskies Extend Streak to 12 with 72-60 Win Over DePaul
UConn Wins 12th Straight, Beats DePaul 72-60

The fourth-ranked University of Connecticut Huskies continued their dominant run through the Big East conference, securing their twelfth consecutive victory with a 72-60 win over the DePaul Blue Demons on Saturday in Hartford. The Huskies' balanced attack and stifling defence proved too much for DePaul, who have now lost 21 straight meetings against UConn.

Key Performers Lead the Charge

Braylon Mullins delivered an all-around performance for UConn, leading the team with 16 points. He filled the stat sheet with seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocked shots, impacting the game on both ends of the floor. Fellow starter Alex Karaban contributed 15 points, while Silas Demary Jr. added 14 points, four assists, and three steals to the winning effort.

For the DePaul Blue Demons, Layden Blocker top-scored with 16 points. Brandon Maclin added 12 points, and CJ Gunn scored nine of his 11 points in the second half as his team tried to mount a comeback.

Game Flow and Decisive Runs

The Huskies took control of the game towards the end of the first half. A three-point play by Mullins and a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Silas Demary Jr. gave UConn a 37-27 lead at halftime. They carried this momentum into the second half, opening with an 11-3 run to push their advantage to 18 points.

DePaul struggled immensely on offence after the break, managing just one field goal in the first eight minutes and twenty-five seconds of the second half. This drought allowed UConn to maintain a comfortable lead, and the Blue Demons never got closer than 12 points for the remainder of the game.

Notable Stats and Upcoming Fixtures

With this result, the Huskies improved their impressive season record to 16-1 overall and 6-0 in the Big East. DePaul's record fell to 10-7 and 2-4 in conference play. Despite the loss, DePaul's defence has held four straight Big East opponents under 80 points, a feat not achieved since the 2019-20 season.

Looking ahead, DePaul will return home to host Marquette on Friday. The red-hot UConn Huskies will next travel to face Seton Hall on Tuesday as they aim to extend their winning streak further.
