Two Killed, 20 Injured in Odisha Van Accident

Berhampur: At least two people lost their lives and 20 others sustained injuries when a pick-up van overturned at Anda Anda in Ganjam district on Sunday night. The incident occurred as the group was returning from the Mahendra Mela held at Mahendragiri in Gajapati district.

According to police, the deceased were identified as Rangabati Behera, 55, and Kailash Behera, 64, both residents of Karabalua village in Patrapur block. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Second Accident on Monday

In a separate incident, at least 12 individuals from Andhra Pradesh, who were also returning from Mahendra Mela, sustained injuries when their SUV overturned on the Jarada-Mahendragiri Road under Jarada police station limits on Monday evening. The victims, hailing from Hansamara village in Barua police station limits, were rescued by police and taken to Patrapur hospital. From there, seven were referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for advanced care.

Condition of Victims

Medical authorities reported that the condition of all victims from both accidents is stable. Police have registered cases and are investigating the causes of the accidents.
