Trichy's First Integrated Sports Hub Inaugurated by Minister K N Nehru

Municipal Administration Minister K N Nehru officially inaugurated the Trichy Corporation's first integrated sports hub in Thennur on Tuesday. This significant development, constructed at a cost of 5.5 crore rupees, marks a major step forward in enhancing public recreational infrastructure in the region.

Facility Features and Public Access

Built on approximately two acres of land located behind the Thennur Uzhavar Sandhai, the sports hub is designed to offer a comprehensive range of amenities. The facility currently includes a fully equipped gymnasium, table tennis and billiards areas, and lodging rooms for visitors. It provides convenient access from both Anna Nagar Sivaprakasam Road and Thennur Pattabiraman Road, ensuring easy connectivity for residents.

User fees have been structured by the corporation to accommodate different needs, with a clear distinction between peak and non-peak hours. For lifetime members of the club, monthly user fees are set between 100 and 500 rupees per person. Non-members will be charged between 500 and 1,000 rupees per hour specifically for table tennis usage, making the facility accessible to both regular users and occasional visitors.

Phased Development and Future Plans

Official sources confirmed that while the first phase of the sports hub is now open for public use, several components of the project will be executed and inaugurated in a phased manner. This strategic approach allows for continuous improvement and expansion of the facility.

In the upcoming phase II, officials have announced that tennis and badminton courts will be completed and opened to the public. This addition is expected to further diversify the sports offerings and attract a wider audience, promoting physical fitness and community engagement.

Additional Infrastructure Inauguration

Following the sports hub inauguration, Minister K N Nehru also inaugurated a new community toilet constructed at a cost of 43.8 lakh rupees in ward 8. This complementary infrastructure project underscores the government's commitment to enhancing public amenities and sanitation facilities across Trichy, contributing to overall urban development and quality of life for residents.

The inauguration of the integrated sports hub represents a pivotal moment in Trichy's municipal development, providing a modern, multi-purpose venue for sports and recreation. With its phased implementation and affordable access options, the facility is poised to become a central hub for community activities and health promotion in the region.
