Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary cricketer, has unveiled a new sports academy in Mumbai with a vision to transform India from a sports-loving nation into a sports-playing nation. The SRT10 AlteVol Centre of Excellence sports academy was inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of several dignitaries and sports personalities.
A New Era for Indian Sports
Tendulkar emphasized that the academy is not just about cricket but aims to nurture talent across multiple sports. "The idea is to transform India from a sports-loving nation to a sports-playing nation," he said. The academy, located in the western suburbs of Mumbai, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including cricket nets, a football field, a basketball court, and a swimming pool.
Holistic Development Approach
The SRT10 AlteVol Centre of Excellence will focus on holistic development of athletes, combining physical training with mental conditioning and nutrition guidance. The academy will also provide access to sports science experts and physiotherapists to ensure that young athletes receive comprehensive support.
Tendulkar, who has been involved in various philanthropic activities through his foundation, stressed the importance of grassroots development. "We need to identify talent at a young age and provide them with the right platform to excel," he added.
Collaboration with AlteVol
The academy is a collaboration with AlteVol, a sports technology company that specializes in performance analytics. The partnership aims to leverage technology to track athlete progress and optimize training regimens. AlteVol's CEO said, "Our goal is to use data-driven insights to help athletes reach their full potential."
The academy will initially accommodate 200 athletes and plans to expand in the coming years. Scholarships will be offered to underprivileged children with exceptional talent. Several former athletes and coaches have been roped in to mentor the young trainees.
Tendulkar concluded by urging the government and private sector to invest more in sports infrastructure. "If we want to become a sports-playing nation, we need to build more academies and provide equal opportunities to children from all backgrounds," he said. The inauguration marks a significant step towards realizing his dream of a sports-centric India.
