National Ski Snowboard Championship Launches in Narkanda with Grand Inauguration

The picturesque town of Narkanda in Shimla district witnessed the grand commencement of a three-day Ski Snowboard Championship on Tuesday. This prestigious sporting event has successfully attracted a diverse array of participants from across India and several international locations, showcasing the growing appeal of winter sports in the region.

Inauguration by HPTDC Chairman R S Bali

The championship was officially inaugurated by R S Bali, the esteemed Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC). In his inaugural address, Bali emphasized the critical importance of organizing such sporting events on a regular basis. He stated that these initiatives provide a positive and constructive direction to the youth, while simultaneously promoting the culture of adventure sports throughout the state.

Significant Infrastructure Announcements

In a move to enhance the facilities and accessibility for visitors and athletes, Bali announced two major infrastructure projects in response to public demand. The first project involves the construction of a portable lift at the Dhumri Ski Slope in Narkanda, with an allocated budget of Rs 50 lakh. This lift is expected to significantly improve the skiing experience by providing easier access to the slopes.

The second announcement pertains to the construction of a gate towards the Dhumri Ski Slope, located near the PWD Rest House. This project, with a cost of Rs 10 lakh, aims to streamline entry and improve the overall infrastructure at the popular skiing destination. These developments are part of a broader strategy to boost tourism and support the growth of adventure sports in Himachal Pradesh.
