The second edition of the Mangalore Open Shooting Championship is scheduled to take place from May 26, as announced by the organizers. The event will be conducted at the Mangalore Shooting Range and will feature a range of competitions including pistol, rifle, and shotgun events.
Event Details and Categories
The championship will be open to participants across multiple age groups, including junior, senior, and veteran categories. Each category will have sub-events based on the type of firearm used. The organizers have emphasized that the event aims to promote shooting sports in the region and provide a platform for local talent to showcase their skills.
Competition Structure
Participants will compete in both precision and rapid-fire rounds for pistol and rifle events. The shotgun event will include trap and skeet disciplines. The championship will follow the rules and regulations set by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
Registrations for the event are already open, and interested participants can register through the official website or at the Mangalore Shooting Range. The last date for registration is May 20. The organizers have also announced that winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.
Previous Edition and Expectations
The first edition of the championship, held last year, saw participation from over 200 shooters from across Karnataka. This year, the organizers expect a larger turnout, with participants from neighboring states as well. The event is being organized by the Mangalore Shooting Association in collaboration with the Karnataka State Rifle Association.
In addition to the competitive events, the championship will also include workshops and training sessions conducted by experienced coaches. These sessions are aimed at helping young shooters improve their techniques and understand the nuances of the sport.
The Mangalore Open Shooting Championship is part of a broader initiative to develop shooting sports in the coastal region of Karnataka. The organizers hope that the event will inspire more youngsters to take up the sport and represent the state at national and international levels.
