Ryan Lochte Starts Fresh with New Home and Blended Family After Divorce
Ryan Lochte Moves In with Girlfriend, Creates Blended Family

Ryan Lochte is turning a new page in his life, and it is a significant one following a turbulent period in his personal relationships. The celebrated Olympic swimmer has now settled into a fresh home with his partner Molly Gillihan and her three children. He revealed this development in an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE magazine, coming seven months after his former spouse Kayla Reid Lochte announced their separation publicly.

A Fresh Start Focused on Family

For Ryan Lochte, this transition goes beyond just changing addresses. He emphasizes it is about recovery, personal development, and prioritizing the well-being of children. Lochte, who is 41 years old and a winner of twelve Olympic medals, shares three children with Kayla Reid Lochte. His private life has drawn considerable public attention over the last year due to the divorce and related legal proceedings.

Now, he expresses feeling in a more positive space. Lochte told PEOPLE that moving in together seemed like the natural and correct progression. He notes that his existence for the past ten months has revolved around improving as a father and establishing a secure household. This move also involves forming a blended family, with six children now residing together.

Driven by Fatherhood and Healing

Ryan Lochte explained to PEOPLE that his decisions in recent months have been guided by his children. He stated, "Everything I’ve done over the last 10 months has been about my kids and becoming the best father I can be for them." He continued, "That meant doing the work, going to rehab, rededicating my life to Christ, going to therapy and making changes that put my children first." Because of these efforts, he says he is grateful to now spend half his time with his children.

Lochte shares son Caiden, 8, daughter Liv, 6, and daughter Georgia, 2, with Kayla Reid Lochte. Kayla Lochte initiated divorce proceedings in March 2025 and later discussed it on Instagram on June 4, 2025. She wrote, "Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection." She also mentioned waiting to speak until she achieved a state of healing.

Overcoming Challenges and Looking Ahead

In September 2025, court documents acquired by PEOPLE indicated that Kayla Reid Lochte requested full custody of the children. In those filings, she alleged Ryan Lochte used drugs in the presence of their children. Lochte later firmly refuted this accusation in a statement provided to PEOPLE. He said, "I am not denying that I used drugs in my home, but I adamantly deny ever using drugs in front of or around my children, and I have never driven them while intoxicated."

Four months later, Ryan Lochte says his attention is on the future. In January, he posted pictures on Instagram from inside the new residence, captioning it, "Home sweet home." He explained to PEOPLE that Molly Gillihan also has three children and shares similar core values. Lochte remarked, "Together, we’re a family of six kids. She’s my best friend, our kids have formed an incredible bond, and it became clear that being together under one roof was the right next step for all of us." He added that they selected a larger home to foster a caring and stable environment for all their children.
