Ranchi is set to host the 12th National Ranking Skating Championship from June 17 to 21 at Khelgaon, officials announced on Monday. The event is expected to draw over 1,000 skaters from 21 states across India.

Participation and Categories

Vikas Singh, president of the Roller Skating Association of Jharkhand (RSAJ), confirmed that Jharkhand alone will field 197 participants from 13 districts, competing in various categories. He stated, "Over 1,000 skaters from 21 states are expected to participate in the five-day event."

Platform for Young Athletes

RSAJ secretary Sumit Sharma emphasized the championship's role in providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent at the national level. He said, "The championship would provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent at the national level."

Facilities and Future Plans

The rink includes 100-metre to 250-metre road circuit tracks. In the second phase of development, facilities for skateboarding and artistic hockey are being planned, aiming to expand the sporting infrastructure in the region.
