Golfer Prakhar Asawa from Jaipur's Rambagh Golf Club has delivered a commendable performance at a major national tournament, finishing in 25th place at the recently concluded CIDCO Open.
Asawa's Steady Play in Challenging Conditions
The CIDCO Open, a key event within the Larsen & Toubro National Golf Championship, was held at the renowned Kharghar Valley Golf Course in Navi Mumbai. The tournament attracted a strong field featuring top Indian professionals like Manu Gandas and Veer Ahlawat, alongside international competitors such as Michele Ortolani and Subash Tamang.
Representing Rajasthan on the national stage, Prakhar Asawa carded a total four-day score of 285, playing level par for the event. His journey to the 25th position was marked by consistency. He opened with two rounds of 2-under par, followed by a 1-over round, and sealed his performance with a level-par round on the final day.
A Test of Skill and Nerve on the Final Day
The last day presented significant challenges with strong winds and tricky pin placements on the championship layout. Despite these conditions, Asawa maintained his composure. His final round was a model of steadiness, featuring two birdies and two bogeys, allowing him to secure his standing in the elite field.
Meanwhile, Delhi's Veer Ahlawat dominated the tournament, firing a 4-under par on the final day to claim victory with an impressive aggregate score of 270. Local favourite Rohan Dhole Patil finished as the runner-up with a total of 273.
Recognition from Rambagh Golf Club
Asawa's performance in 2025 has been noted for its consistency, a rare feat for a professional golfer hailing from Rajasthan. The achievement was celebrated by his home club.
Yogendra Singh, Captain of the Rambagh Golf Club, praised Asawa's dedication. "Prakhar's consistent performance at a highly competitive international event reflects his discipline and growing maturity as a professional golfer," he stated.
Adding to this, Samridh Sharma, Honorary Secretary of the club, highlighted Asawa's progress. "Prakhar has shown remarkable improvement in his game over the last one year," Sharma remarked, underscoring the golfer's development trajectory.
The Championship Venue: Kharghar Valley
The event was hosted at the spectacular Kharghar Valley Golf Course, widely regarded as one of India's finest. The 18-hole championship course is set across a sprawling 103-hectare green estate, with the scenic backdrop of surrounding hills adding both beauty and a stern test to the game.
Prakhar Asawa's result at this prestigious venue underscores his capability to compete at the highest level of golf in the country, marking him as a talent to watch from the region.
