Nagpur University Launches Softball Campaign with Decisive 10-0 Victory

Nagpur University made a powerful statement on Friday, blanking Mewar University from Rajasthan with a commanding 10-0 scoreline to kick off their participation in the All India Inter-University Women's Softball Championship. The match unfolded at the Shivaji Science College ground in Amravati, setting a high standard for the tournament's opening day.

Maharashtra Teams Deliver Mixed Results in Early Games

In other fixtures involving teams from Maharashtra, the University of Mumbai secured a solid 11-06 victory over Maharaja Surajmal Brij University from Bharatpur. Similarly, the University of Pune demonstrated their prowess with a straightforward 7-0 win against Jalandhar. However, not all local squads fared well, as SNDT Women's University from Mumbai suffered a disappointing 0-7 defeat to Udaipur's Janardhan Rai University.

Host institutions SGB Amravati University and Gondwana University are scheduled to commence their campaigns starting Saturday, adding to the competitive atmosphere in Amravati.

Championship Inaugurated with Official Ceremony

The women's championship was formally inaugurated earlier by Amravati Collector Ashish Yerekar. The ceremony was graced by the presence of SGBAU pro-Vice Chancellor Mahendra Dhore, Shivaji Education Society treasurer Dilip Ingole, principal GV Korpe, alongside notable figures Subhash Gawande, Suraj Yeotikar, Tanuja Raut, and convenor Rupali Ingole.
