Madhya Pradesh Paddlers Excel at National Canoe Slalom Championships

Madhya Pradesh athletes delivered a stellar performance at the National Canoe Slalom Championships 2026. The event is currently underway at Sahastradhara Ghat in Bothu, Maheshwar, located within the Khargone district. Athletes from the host state dominated the competition, securing top honors in key categories.

Gold Medal Wins in C1 Senior Events

In the C1 Senior Men event, Vishal Kevat of Madhya Pradesh captured the gold medal. He executed an outstanding run on the challenging course, demonstrating excellent control and technique. Vishal Verma from Uttarakhand took home the silver medal. Rishikesh Kale from Services finished third to claim the bronze.

The host state continued its strong showing in the C1 Senior Women category. Pallavi Jagtap of Madhya Pradesh earned the gold medal with a confident and consistent performance. Reena Sen from Uttarakhand secured the silver medal. Manashvi Raikwar of Maharashtra won the bronze medal.

Event Details and Significance

National Canoe Polo Chairman Yogendra Singh Rathod provided details about the championships. He stated that the event is organized from January 13 to January 15. The Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association oversees the championships. The Madhya Pradesh Amateur Kayaking and Canoeing Association is hosting the event.

Approximately 150 paddlers are participating in the competitions. They represent 14 states, the Army, and the CRPF. The events include the 13th Senior, 12th Junior, and 3rd Kayak Cross National Championships.

Rathod emphasized the significance of the event. It serves as part of the Asian Games Trials. This factor attracts top paddlers from across the country, making the competition highly competitive.
