Indian motorcycle racing enthusiasts have received exciting news as the prospect of MotoGP returning to the country gains significant momentum. The Uttar Pradesh government has entered into a fresh partnership with international motorsport consultancy AVW Global, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a comprehensive racing ecosystem and explore hosting major international events in the future.
Strategic Partnership for Motorsport Development
AVW Global, founded by former MotoGP rider Karel Abraham, will collaborate closely with the State Transformation Commission to support the organization of global racing championships. This strategic alliance represents a concerted effort to elevate India's position in international motorsports through systematic infrastructure and event management development.
The comprehensive plan includes two primary objectives:
- Bringing back the MotoGP round to India after its successful inaugural event
- Hosting the prestigious Asia Road Racing Championship
Buddh International Circuit: The Preferred Venue
The return of MotoGP is expected to focus on the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, which previously hosted the Indian round of the championship. This world-class facility remains the primary venue under consideration due to its existing infrastructure that meets the demanding requirements of top-level international racing competitions.
The circuit's established facilities, including pit complexes, grandstands, and safety features, provide a significant advantage for hosting elite motorsport events without requiring extensive new construction or modifications.

India made its historic debut in MotoGP racing in September 2023, marking a watershed moment for motorsports in the country. The inaugural event saw Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi claim victory in the main race with an impressive margin of 8.649 seconds, demonstrating world-class racing talent on Indian soil.
The support categories also showcased exceptional talent, with Pedro Acosta winning the Moto2 race and Jaume Masia triumphing in Moto3. The entire race weekend proved immensely popular with fans, drawing a total attendance of 111,762 spectators, including 58,605 enthusiastic fans on the main race day alone.
