Surpassing Wayne Gretzky in any statistical category remains a monumental achievement in the NHL. Gretzky and his former teammate Jari Kurri both held the Oilers franchise record with nine 50-assist seasons. That record stood for 38 years before McDavid rewrote it.
McDavid accomplished this feat in just 11 seasons with Edmonton. He has recorded 50 or more assists in ten of those campaigns. The only exception was the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season, where he still managed an outstanding 72 points in just 56 games.

His current 19-game point streak now ties him with Gretzky for the seventh-longest in franchise history. During this remarkable run, McDavid has compiled 44 total points from 19 goals and 25 assists.
