Mangaluru Beach Festival 2024: 3-Day Sports & Culture Extravaganza from Jan 9
Mangaluru Beach Festival: Sports, Expo, Fun from Jan 9

The coastal city of Mangaluru is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of sports, education, and entertainment as the Allcargo Mangaluru Beach Festival prepares to take over Tannirbhavi Beach from January 9 to 11, 2024. The three-day festival, coordinated by the Tapasya Foundation, promises to be a major draw for athletes, families, and culture enthusiasts alike.

A Mega Athletic Carnival by the Sea

Announcing the details to the press, Naveen Hegde, trustee of Tapasya Foundation and the festival coordinator, revealed that the event is expected to attract around 5,000 participants. The athletic lineup is particularly impressive, headlined by the Mangaluru Triathlon, renowned as one of India's premier endurance events. This year, the triathlon has seen enthusiastic registration, including 40 children in the 10-15 age group.

The festival's sports calendar is packed with diverse activities to cater to all fitness levels. Participants can look forward to a wide array of events including:

  • Duathlon and Olympic-distance triathlon
  • Sprint triathlon and team relay triathlon
  • 40K dream cycling and marathon events
  • Half-marathon, 10K dream run, and 5K fun run
  • 1,000m dream swim and 500m fun swim
  • Aquathlon and a 2K charity walk

Adding a traditional touch, a state-level beach kusti (wrestling) competition will be held, with gold medal winners earning a spot to compete at the national level.

Beyond Sports: Expo, Education, and Entertainment

The festival's scope extends far beyond the athletic arena. It aims to create a holistic community experience. A significant highlight will be the SFI national open-water swimming championships, bringing top swimmers to the Mangaluru coast.

For the intellectually curious and innovators, the festival will host an agri-tech expo featuring 20-30 stalls, state-level science model competitions, and an IT quiz. These initiatives are designed to motivate young minds towards careers in science and technology. Parallelly, art and dance competitions, a thrilling bike stunt show, a battle of the bands, and a fashion show will keep the entertainment quotient high.

Platform for Startups and Future Scientists

Naveen Hegde emphasized the festival's broader vision. It is conceived as a platform not just for competition but for promotion and inspiration. Dedicated science and art exhibitions will showcase local talent. Importantly, the event will provide startups with a platform to promote Mangaluru's inherent beauty and renowned hospitality to a wide audience.

By blending high-octane sports, educational exhibitions, and cultural performances, the Allcargo Mangaluru Beach Festival 2024 is set to transform Tannirbhavi Beach into a hub of energy and community spirit for three unforgettable days.
