Top Indian Volleyball Stars Set to Compete in 2nd All Goa Tournament

Panaji is gearing up for an exciting volleyball spectacle as some of India's premier volleyball players are anticipated to participate in the 2nd All Goa volleyball tournament. Organized by Gladstone Almeida in partnership with Pogo Boys, Merces, the event will be held at Modi ground in Merces starting Tuesday.

Enhanced Competition with National Talent

The five-day tournament features six teams from Goa battling for top honors. According to competition rules, each team must include three outstation players, elevating the level of play. Teams have reportedly contacted athletes from the Prime Volleyball League (PVL), with notable names like Shubham Choudhary and Kiran Raj being discussed as potential participants.

Organizers revealed that teams are keeping their outstation player lists confidential to prevent poaching. "Last year, we organized this all-Goa tournament in Santa Barbara ward (Santa Cruz) and thought we should now take it a notch higher with national players," said Almeida, who is hosting the event in memory of his father and brother, Vicente Almeida and Bonifacio Almeida. "I am sure that the competition will be fierce since we will have top volleyball players."

Tournament Structure and Venue

The six competing teams have been divided into two groups:

Group A: Detailz Doctor (Menkure), Cacra-Aradi-Bandh (Santa Cruz), and KK Boys (Santa Cruz)
Group B: Radhakrisna (Usgao), Sarvan (Bicholim), and Varad 7

Pogo Boys have developed a specialized volleyball court at Merces with a seating capacity exceeding 3,000 spectators, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere for the matches.
