Hill and Diggs Urged to Return to Former Teams by Teammates

Two sides to one story. Prominent wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Tyreek Hill have come a long way. They are both without NFL homes, and their respective friends, Christian Gonzalez and Chris Jones, are hoping they would come back home to the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs.

Tyreek Hill Linked to Chiefs Through Chris Jones; Stefon Diggs Tied to Patriots via Christian Gonzalez

When teams do not decide, players step in and put forth their demands. When the Miami Dolphins released Tyreek Hill back in February 2026, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones tagged him on X and wrote, "[cheetah] it's [time]." This suggested it was time for Hill to come back home to his parent team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent six seasons with the Chiefs, even winning a Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Months later, in early May 2026, Stefon Diggs was cleared of his legal matters and was still awaiting an NFL team to acquire him. His former teammate, Christian Gonzalez, stepped up to his aid. Diggs posted his Patriots season portrayal on Instagram with the caption: "This is not an opinion-based sport, so here are the numbers. I played 52% of the snaps and finished with 85 catches for 1,045 yards coming off an ACL. Where we going? ???" To which Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez commented, "To the pats."

A Two-Year-Old Tale Involving Tee Higgins and Kendrick Bourne

This takes us to another two-year-old tale involving Tee Higgins and Kendrick Bourne. Ex-Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne wanted Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins. Back when Bourne played for the New England Patriots in 2024, he urged Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins to join the Patriots via a TikTok live video. Higgins' future with the Bengals looked bleak. His contract had expired, and Cincinnati was showing no sign of retaining him. Bourne said via TikTok, "Hey bro, Tee Higgins, if you're out there. I know they're screen recording, but come to the Pats, bro. It ain't what it seems, bro. It's gonna be lit. Drake Maye and Tee Higgins touchdown, how good does that sound?" But then the Bengals franchise-tagged Higgins, and he never made it to the Patriots for Bourne.

Could the same happen with Tyreek Hill and Stefon Diggs? Their teammates and friends clearly want them to be on their respective teams: the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots. But would the teams consider them? Stefon Diggs, maybe. Tyreek Hill, maybe not. Diggs' legal matter just ended, while Hill's has just started.
