Haryana Government Distributes Rs 12.72 Crore to Support Young Athletes in Sports Nurseries

The Haryana Sports Department has taken a significant step to bolster grassroots sports development by disbursing a substantial sum of Rs 12.72 crore. This funding is specifically earmarked for 74,884 young players who are currently undergoing training in sports nurseries throughout the state for the upcoming 2025–26 session.

District-Wise Allocation Based on Enrollment Numbers

According to official data released by the department, the financial allocation has been meticulously distributed across all 22 districts of Haryana. The distribution model is directly proportional to the number of nursery players enrolled in each district, ensuring equitable support.

  • Gurgaon District: A total of 2,124 players will benefit from an allocation of approximately Rs 37.56 lakh.
  • Faridabad District: With 951 enrolled players, the district has been granted nearly Rs 16.68 lakh.
  • Nuh District: This district received about Rs 41.27 lakh to support 2,385 nursery participants.

The funds are designated as a nutrition allowance for the months of July, August, and September. The transfer process to players' bank accounts has already commenced, following a verification procedure conducted by district authorities.

Structured Support Through Unique ID System

To ensure transparency and efficiency, the department utilizes a unique ID system maintained for all sports nursery participants. District officials are responsible for verifying player details and bank account information through this system before initiating fund transfers.

"The process of transferring funds has already begun and several athletes received the amount in their respective bank accounts," stated Arti Solanki, District Sports Officer. "A few players are facing minor bank-related issues, but their payments are expected to be cleared within the next 2 to 3 days after verification. The department directed officials to ensure that all eligible players receive the allowance without unnecessary delay."

Grassroots Initiative with Monthly Allowances

The sports nurseries are a cornerstone of the state government's initiative to identify and nurture young sporting talent from an early age. These government-approved centers provide structured training alongside financial assistance to alleviate the burden on aspiring athletes and their families.

Under this comprehensive scheme, players are categorized by age group to receive tailored support:

  1. Age 8–14 years: These younger athletes are granted a nutrition allowance of Rs 1,500 per month.
  2. Age 14–19 years: Older participants receive Rs 2,000 per month to aid their training and dietary requirements.

This financial aid is crucial for supporting the intensive training regimens and nutritional needs essential for athletic development.

Statewide Participation and Ministerial Assurance

Data analysis reveals that Hisar district boasts the highest number of sports nursery players in Haryana. Other districts with significant enrollment figures include Kaithal, Jind, Rohtak, and Panipat, highlighting widespread participation across the state.

Haryana Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam emphasized the government's commitment to timely disbursements and good governance in sports. "I directed the senior officials of the department that no payment of coaches and athletes of nurseries should remain pending. We are working for Good Governance in Sports and to ensure Zero pendency in direct services of our athletes," he affirmed.

Future Installments and Ongoing Support

Officials confirmed that the current release of Rs 12.72 crore covers the initial three months of the 2025–26 session. Subsequent installments will be issued according to the scheduled timeline, pending completion of the necessary verification procedures for each phase.

This proactive funding initiative underscores Haryana's dedication to fostering a robust sports ecosystem, empowering young talents to pursue athletic excellence with adequate financial backing and structured support from the grassroots level upward.
