Rohtak: Girls once again emerged as top performers in the Class XII examinations, the results for which were declared by the Board of School Education, Haryana, on Tuesday. Continuing the trend, girl students outshone boys by a margin of 6.52%.
Overall Performance
Announcing the results during a press conference held at the board headquarters in Bhiwani, chairman Pawan Kumar stated that the overall pass percentage this year stood at 84.67%. A total of 2,42,856 students appeared for the Class XII examinations, out of which 2,05,618 students successfully cleared the exam.
Girls recorded an impressive pass percentage of 87.97%, while 81.45% of boys cleared the exams. The results highlighted the consistent rise of girl students in Haryana's educational landscape, Kumar added.
"The results are a reflection of the hard work and dedication of students as well as teachers," Kumar said while congratulating the successful candidates and wishing them a bright future.
District and Area Performance
Among the districts, Charkhi Dadri emerged as the best performer, while Nuh was placed at the bottom of the performance chart. The results also reflected the growing strength of rural Haryana. Students from rural areas recorded a pass percentage of 84.98%, marginally higher than the 83.91% achieved by students from urban areas.
School Type and Stream Analysis
Private schools achieved an overall pass percentage of 87.94%, whereas government schools recorded a pass percentage of 82.44%. Education experts believe the improved performance in both categories indicates a positive shift in Haryana's school education system. The pass percentage in the Arts stream was recorded at 82.60%, Science at 90.08%, and Commerce at 88.20%.
Open School Results
The School Board also announced the results for the Haryana Open School examinations. In the fresh category, the pass percentage stood at 42.15%, while re-appear candidates recorded a pass percentage of 50.09%. Even in the Open School category, girls maintained their lead over boys with an advantage of 11.23%.
Kumar assured students that those dissatisfied with their marks need not panic, as the Board had provided facilities for rechecking and re-evaluation.
Girls Dominate Merit List
All top positions in the state were secured by girl students. Deepika from Vivekanand Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chillar, Rewari district, topped the state by scoring 499 out of 500 marks. Udita of Rohtak bagged the second position with 498 marks. Yogita and Muskan shared the third position with 497 marks each.
