Kiwi Racers Show Mutual Admiration Across Motorsport Worlds

Two talented drivers from New Zealand are making waves in different racing series. Formula E star Nick Cassidy and Formula One driver Liam Lawson share more than just their homeland. They recently spent time together during the summer break, forging a connection between the electric and traditional racing circuits.

Lawson's High Praise for Cassidy's Expertise

During the Racing Bulls livery launch event in Detroit, Liam Lawson faced questions about his fellow Kiwi. The Formula One driver did not hold back his admiration for Nick Cassidy. Formula E captured this moment on Instagram with a telling caption. It read, "Game recognises game. F1 driver Liam Lawson was full of praise for Nick Cassidy."

Lawson, who is twenty-three years old, spoke with talkSPORT about his summer interactions with the thirty-one-year-old Cassidy. The interviewer specifically asked if Cassidy, renowned for his mastery of energy management in Formula E, had offered any tips. Lawson responded with clear respect.

"I mean, I think he's probably the best at it, honestly," Lawson stated. "I watched his race. I was still in New Zealand playing golf, and we were watching the live stream of Mexico City. Yeah, he's obviously doing a really, really good job. He’s somebody that over the years I’ve spoken to a lot, and I probably this year will be speaking to a lot more, asking for advice."

Fans quickly reacted to this display of camaraderie. One enthusiast wrote, "Love this!!! Respect." Another simply commented, "KIWI LOVE." A third added, "Yessss Kiwi love," highlighting the national pride surrounding these athletes.

Cassidy's Dominant Start in Formula E

Nick Cassidy enters the new Formula E season with strong momentum. After finishing as the runner-up in the World Championship last season with Jaguar TCS Racing, he switched teams. Cassidy now races for the Citroen Racing team in Season 12.

His impact has been immediate and impressive. Cassidy has secured podium finishes in both races so far. He took third place at the Sao Paulo E-Prix. Then, he claimed victory at the Mexico City E-Prix, marking his first win with Citroen Racing.

These results have propelled Cassidy to the top of the Formula E Drivers' Standings. He currently holds forty points. This gives him a four-point lead over Jack Dennis from the Andretti team, who sits in second place.

Personal Milestones and Future Races

Beyond the track, Nick Cassidy recently shared a personal update. He made his relationship with model Nathalia Soliani official on Instagram with a New Year's post. Cassidy shared several pictures with her and included a heartfelt caption.

"I don’t usually post much private life these days, here’s the 2025 side not shown. Don’t judge!" he wrote. "Very thankful and appreciative of the life we are given and work for. 2nd in the World Championship and lots of life memories to be cherished. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holidays."

Looking ahead, Cassidy's racing schedule continues. He will now head to Miami for the Round 2 race on January 31. Fans eagerly await to see if he can maintain his championship lead.
