Envision Racing Announces Ella Lloyd for Madrid Rookie Test

Following Porsche's recent announcement, Envision Racing has now confirmed their rookie driver for the upcoming Formula E Madrid Rookie Test scheduled for March 22. The team has selected McLaren development driver Ella Lloyd to take the wheel, marking her second rookie test appearance with Envision Racing.

Lloyd's Impressive Racing Background

Twenty-year-old British driver Ella Lloyd brings substantial experience to the Madrid test. She has previously driven a Formula E car on three occasions and demonstrated her capabilities during last year's Women's Test in Valencia. Lloyd finished fourth in the competitive F1 Academy championship last year and has an impressive track record that includes:

  • Vice-champion title in the 2023 Ginetta GT Championship
  • Winner of the Female Driver Trophy in the Formula Winter Series
  • Multiple top-three finishes in British F4
  • Fourth place in F1 Academy 2023

Team and Driver Enthusiasm

Ella Lloyd expressed her excitement about the opportunity through social media, stating: "Announcement. Excited to announce that I will be taking part in the Formula E rookie test in Madrid, after a successful first outing in Valencia. I'm excited to continue working with Envision."

Envision Racing shared the news with a promotional poster on their social media channels, accompanied by the message: "We are delighted to announce that Ella Lloyd will return to the cockpit at the Madrid Rookie Test on 22 March! Following her impressive performance in the Women's Test in Valencia last year, we're excited to build on that progress. We cannot wait to see what she achieves during the rookie test in Spain!"

Lloyd elaborated on her anticipation, saying: "I'm really looking forward to driving the Formula E car again with Envision Racing. The test last year in Valencia was a fantastic experience and I learned a great deal from the team. I'm excited to build on that progress and continue developing in Madrid."

Management Support and Expectations

Envision Racing Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi welcomed Lloyd back to the team with strong endorsement: "We are delighted to welcome Ella back to the team for the Madrid rookie test. She demonstrated impressive pace during her first outing in Valencia. This test will be a great opportunity for her to continue that progress and further integrate with the team."

Test Schedule and Competitor Announcements

The Madrid Rookie Test will follow the inaugural Madrid E-Prix scheduled for March 20-21. This timing provides rookies with valuable track experience immediately after the main event. Meanwhile, competitor Porsche has announced their own rookie drivers for the test: Ayhancan Guven and Elia Weiss, setting the stage for competitive rookie performances across multiple teams.

This announcement positions Envision Racing with a promising young talent as Formula E continues to develop its driver pipeline through structured rookie testing programs.
