Historic Feat in Endurance Sports
Chandrapur: Dr Prajakta Aswar, a gynaecologist, has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to successfully complete Ultraman Australia, one of the world's most demanding ultra-endurance competitions. The event took place from May 9 to 11.
The Brutal Challenge
This three-day race pushes participants to their physical and mental limits. It includes a 10 km swim, a 421 km cycling challenge, and an 84.3 km double marathon run, covering a total distance of 515.4 km. Dr Aswar competed against 39 elite athletes from around the globe, and she was the only woman among eight Indian participants.
Trailblazing Achievement
While several Indian male triathletes such as Milind Soman, Dr Kaustubh Radkar, Shubham Kajale, Ingit Anand, Sidharth Yadav, and IRS officer Jomy Jacob have previously completed the Australian edition, Dr Aswar is the first Indian female athlete to achieve this feat. Her accomplishment is a testament to her discipline, relentless hard work, determination, and deep passion for the sport.
Previous Accomplishments
Dr Aswar has previously completed Ironman competitions in several countries, including Germany, Finland, Boston, Estonia, and Goa. She is known for constantly setting new personal goals and dedicating herself wholeheartedly to achieving them.
Inspiration for Women
Dr Aswar, who continues to redefine possibilities for Indian women in endurance sports, said, "I urge Indian girls and women to participate wholeheartedly in diverse competitive fields, push their limits, and strive to bring pride to themselves, their families, and the nation." Her success has drawn widespread admiration. The Indian Medical Association's Chandrapur chapter lauded her as an inspiration for women nationwide to pursue excellence fearlessly on the global stage.
