Antonio Felix da Costa Secures Maiden Jaguar Victory in Jeddah E-Prix
Portuguese racing driver Antonio Felix da Costa has finally broken through with his first win for Jaguar TCS Racing, achieving this milestone in Round 5 of the Formula E season at the Jeddah E-Prix. The 34-year-old driver, who made the switch from Porsche after a strong performance in Season 11, expressed a deep sense of accomplishment and feeling settled with his new team after five races.
Overcoming Challenges of Team Transition
Da Costa opened up about the difficulties of changing teams in the competitive world of Formula E. "Changing teams is hard. It's very hard getting to know a new car, new people, everything," he admitted. "And it took me five races to win with Jaguar and, to be honest, in a way I feel like we could have done it earlier. But to do it in just five races, that's a big achievement."
The former champion emphasized the high expectations that come with joining a successful organization like Jaguar TCS Racing. "When you join a team as successful as Jaguar TCS Racing and with me being a previous champion and an ambitious athlete, this is always the goal, right? This is where we set the bar," da Costa declared, highlighting his determination to succeed with his new team.
Celebrating the Victory and Team Dynamics
An elated da Costa shared moments from his Jeddah triumph on Instagram, captioning his post: "History does not pray for the weak. VICTORY IS OURS! Thank you all." This victory marks a significant personal achievement for the driver who has been working to establish himself within the Jaguar framework.
Da Costa also praised his teammate Mitch Evans, who secured a victory in Miami and finished third in the first race of the Jeddah doubleheader. "To have Mitch as a teammate has been really good. He's been really, really good, and we're helping each other," da Costa explained. "Today in the race, he let me go when I was on Attack Mode, and that was just awesome. We're building a really good dynamic together and yeah, hopefully it keeps going and hopefully both of us can be there at the end."
Current Standings and Future Prospects
With both Jaguar drivers now having one win each this season, the team appears to be building strong momentum. In the current Formula E Drivers' Standings:
- Mitch Evans sits in fifth position with 47 points
- Antonio Felix da Costa holds seventh place with 39 points
This victory not only boosts da Costa's confidence but also strengthens Jaguar TCS Racing's position in the championship. The successful partnership between da Costa and Evans suggests promising prospects for the remainder of the season as they continue to develop their collaborative approach to racing.
