Nagpur's Visually Impaired Swimmer Ishwari Pande Creates World Record Crossing Palk Strait

In a remarkable display of human endurance and determination, seventeen-year-old visually impaired swimmer Ishwari Pande from Nagpur scripted history on Monday by becoming the world's first completely blind athlete to successfully cross the Palk Strait from Sri Lanka to India.

An Eleven-Hour Journey Against All Odds

With the ambitious goal of setting a world record, Ishwari began her historic swim at 4:00 AM from Urmalai Point near Talaimannar in Sri Lanka. After battling strong ocean currents, shifting tides, and even encounters with jellyfish, she finally reached her destination at Arichalmunai, Dhanushkodi, at 3:15 PM.

The challenging journey lasted an impressive 11 hours and 15 minutes, during which Ishwari demonstrated exceptional physical endurance and mental fortitude that left observers in awe.
