Union Minister BL Verma Credits Sports Promotion for India's Miraculous Achievements
Union Minister BL Verma has lauded the promotion of sports in India, describing recent national successes across various games as "miracles" resulting from dedicated efforts. Speaking at the Sansad Khel Mahotsav in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Telangana, on Sunday, Verma emphasized the pivotal role of government initiatives in fostering athletic excellence.
Highlighting Recent Triumphs and Government Leadership
In his address, Verma pointed to specific achievements that underscore India's growing prowess in sports. He noted that India's women's cricket team secured the Cricket World Cup last year, followed by the national team clinching the T20 World Cup earlier this month. These victories, according to Verma, are direct outcomes of the enhanced focus on sports development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The newly appointed Governor of Telangana, Shiv Pratap Shukla, and I have also been part of this initiative. I congratulate K. Laxman for organizing the Sansad Khel Mahotsav," Verma stated. "Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, sports is being promoted, and our athletes win record medals in the Olympics and Paralympics. A few months ago, our daughters won the World Cup in cricket, and then our players won the T20 World Cup. So when sports are promoted, miracles like this happen."
BJP MP K Laxman Outlines Vision for Future Success
BJP MP K Laxman, who organized the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, elaborated on the event's objectives. He explained that following Prime Minister Modi's vision, the festival was designed to support athletes ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Laxman expressed confidence that such programs will boost players' morale and help India achieve a record medal haul at the Games.
"Following Prime Minister Modi's instructions, the MP Khel Mahotsav has been organized... Prime Minister Modi's goal is to build a developed India by 2047," Laxman said. "Programs are being held to boost the morale and encouragement of our players for the Commonwealth Games to be held in the country... Our players will win a record number of medals in the Commonwealth Games."
