The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially unveiled the 15-member squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka. Nigar Sultana Joty will continue to lead the side, bringing her wealth of experience to the captaincy role.
Squad Composition
The squad features a balanced mix of seasoned campaigners and emerging talents. Key players include vice-captain Rumana Ahmed, experienced all-rounder Salma Khatun, and pace bowler Jahanara Alam. The batting lineup is bolstered by the inclusion of Murshida Khatun and Sharmin Akhter.
New Faces
Two uncapped players have earned their spots: left-arm spinner Nahida Akter and wicketkeeper-batter Fariha Trisna. Their inclusion reflects BCB's focus on building depth for the future.
Preparation and Expectations
Bangladesh will undergo a preparatory camp in Dhaka before departing for Sri Lanka. The team aims to improve upon their previous World Cup performances, where they reached the Super 12 stage in 2023. Captain Joty expressed confidence in the squad's ability to compete strongly.
The Women's T20 World Cup 2026 will feature 12 teams, with Bangladesh placed in Group A alongside India, Australia, and two qualifiers. The tournament is set to begin in February 2026.
