Anganwadi Worker Amita Sets Sights on Mount Everest After Kilimanjaro Triumph

Amita will depart for Kathmandu on April 9 to commence her Everest expedition, a significant milestone that places Chhattisgarh on the global adventure map. She aims to unfurl the Indian Tricolour atop the world's highest peak, symbolizing national pride and personal achievement.
Carving a Unique Path in Mountaineering
"Most people follow the same path, but I decided to carve my own," said Amita, reflecting on her unconventional choice to pursue mountaineering. This mindset has driven her to take on the demanding challenges of high-altitude climbing, with the goal of bringing honor to her home district and state.
Her upcoming Everest attempt builds on the endurance and commitment demonstrated during her Kilimanjaro conquest. Despite limited resources, Amita has relied on sheer hard work, passion, and specialized training to turn her dream into reality.
Mountaineering Journey and Training Background
Amita began her mountaineering journey in 2018 with a rock-climbing course at a government institute in Mount Abu, Rajasthan. She gradually advanced through various training programs, mastering the written, oral, and practical examinations required for certifications in this rigorous discipline.
During her training, she has climbed to altitudes of around 5,500 meters in the mountainous regions of West and North Sikkim. Additionally, she has scaled the well-known Uttarakhand peak Utt Kangri, further solidifying her credentials as a skilled high-altitude climber.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai recently met Amita at his Raipur residence, praising her expedition as a symbol of the state's aspirations, courage, and self-belief. He emphasized that her journey illustrates how determination can make even the highest peaks attainable.
