The historic city of Varanasi witnessed a vibrant display of youthful energy and sporting spirit as the first-ever Ajay Singh memorial 3x3 basketball tournament concluded successfully. The two-day event, held at the Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) grounds, wrapped up on Sunday, serving as a fitting tribute to a local sports icon.

This sporting event was organized specifically to honour the legacy of the late Ajay Singh. Singh was not only a dedicated employee of BLW but also a former national-level basketball player who represented India. The tournament aimed to keep his passion for the game alive by fostering the same competitive spirit among the youth of the region.

The courts of BLW were buzzing with action as young athletes from across the region competed fiercely. A total of 30 teams participated, showcasing impressive talent. The breakdown included 12 teams in the girls' category and 18 teams in the boys' category. Participants demonstrated exceptional skills, remarkable agility, and seamless teamwork throughout the competition.
Crowning the Champions
The final matches brought intense excitement. In the boys' category, the championship clash was between BLW and SHEAT Public School. After a thrilling contest, SHEAT Public School emerged victorious, claiming the top honour.
The girls' final was equally competitive, featuring Rajarshi Dominator versus Hooper. In this matchup, Rajarshi Dominator proved stronger and claimed the championship title. The successful conclusion of the tournament highlighted the growing popularity of 3x3 basketball format among school and college students in Uttar Pradesh.
