In a significant push ahead of crucial electoral exercises, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a clarion call to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Friday. He urged them to dedicate their complete efforts towards the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, terming the drive a foundational service to strengthen Indian democracy.
Door-to-Door Campaign for Inclusive Voter Lists
Addressing a gathering of party office-bearers and workers from seven BJP metropolitan mandals in Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister laid out a clear action plan. He instructed the cadre to undertake extensive door-to-door outreach. The primary objective is to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the voter list. "Workers must go from house-to-house, get enumeration forms filled and ensure that each eligible name is included in the voters' list," CM Yogi emphasized. He described every effort made under this campaign as a direct contribution to democratic fortification.
Countering Opposition Criticism
In his address, the Chief Minister did not shy away from targeting opposition parties. He alleged that those making "baseless remarks" against the SIR process are the same forces that wish to see India's democracy weakened. CM Yogi Adityanath pointed out a perceived contradiction in the opposition's stance. "When they win, they credit their own efforts, but when they lose, they blame the EVMs. This has been the consistent stand of the Congress, the Samajwadi Party and other opposition parties," he stated.
Linking Democratic Strength to National Progress
The Uttar Pradesh leader built a direct correlation between robust democratic institutions and a strong nation. He asserted that a strong democracy inevitably leads to a strong nation. According to him, the opposition's reluctance to support exercises like the Special Intensive Revision stems from their alleged unwillingness to see these democratic institutions strengthened. The meeting served as both a motivational rally and a strategic briefing for the party's grassroots machinery in the region.
The Chief Minister's focused intervention underscores the political importance attached to comprehensive and accurate voter lists. With the Special Intensive Revision being a meticulous process, the BJP aims to mobilize its entire network to maximize enrollment, setting the stage for future electoral contests.
