A 28-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her acquaintance on the premises of their office in Phase 11, Mohali, on Thursday evening, following which the assailant inflicted stab wounds on himself and is currently in critical condition.
Victim and Accused Identified
The deceased has been identified as Dimple, a resident of Patiala. The accused, Harjinder Singh, also hails from Patiala and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mohali. His condition is stated to be critical.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place around 7:30 PM on the second floor of SRP US Logistics Company in Phase 11. According to the police, the accused had been courting the woman. When she refused his advances, he attacked her with a knife, stabbing her multiple times. After the assault, the man stabbed himself repeatedly.
Within minutes, a crowd gathered at the office. Both individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared the woman dead upon arrival. The accused remains under medical supervision.
Police Investigation
The police have collected evidence from the crime scene and recorded statements from company employees. A murder case has been registered against Harjinder Singh at the Phase 11 police station. Authorities stated that the accused's statement will be recorded once doctors declare him fit to provide one.
