The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has launched a comprehensive encroachment removal initiative in preparation for the upcoming Mahashivratri festival. This annual religious celebration, scheduled for Monday, features the prominent Shivji Ki Savari procession, necessitating clear and accessible routes throughout the city.
Strategic Clearance Along Primary Procession Corridors
VMC teams have been actively dismantling unauthorized structures and clearing obstructions along the designated procession path. Key areas targeted include the vicinity of the Ranmukteshwar Mahadev Temple, Laheripura Gate, and the bustling MG Road. Additionally, operations have focused on the Gandhi Nagargruh area, the stretch from Mandvi to Gendi Gate, and around Sursagar Lake.
These locations are critical as they either form part of the main procession route or experience significant traffic congestion due to festival-related diversions. The civic body's efforts aim to ensure smooth passage for devotees and maintain public order during the large-scale event.
Expanded Drive Beyond the Core Route
Beyond the immediate procession corridor, the VMC has extended its cleanup campaign to other high-traffic zones. Encroachments near Khanderao Market, Sardar Estate, and Ajwa Road have been systematically removed to alleviate potential bottlenecks.
Notable infrastructure improvements include clearing the internal road connecting Veraimata Temple to Siddhnath Talav in the Rajmahal Road area. This proactive measure is expected to enhance local mobility and safety for residents and visitors alike.
Strict Action Against Unauthorized Constructions
The corporation has adopted a firm stance against illegal constructions, demolishing unauthorized structures at Ravi Park Society in Undera. Furthermore, property owners in Ramdevnagar, Sayajipura, have been issued directives to remove any illegal extensions or constructions by Friday.
This enforcement underscores the VMC's commitment to urban regulation and public safety ahead of the major festival. The coordinated drive reflects meticulous planning to accommodate the anticipated large gatherings and processions associated with Mahashivratri.
