UP Woman Helps Boyfriend Rob Father's House of ₹1.2 Crore

In a shocking case of betrayal, a 21-year-old woman allegedly orchestrated a brazen armed robbery at her father's house in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Conspiring with her boyfriend of eight years and his associates, she planned the heist to secure ₹1.2 crore in cash and jewellery to fund a life together after her family rejected their relationship.

Details of the Heist

In the early hours of Monday, a gang of armed robbers entered the residence of Mohammad Imran, a brass businessman living in Akbar Compound under Nagafni police station. Despite Imran's wife, Seema, their two sons and two daughters being present inside, the intruders bypassed the house's digital security system with ease, showing zero signs of forced entry. The gang looted ₹1.2 crore in cash and six tolas of gold jewellery before escaping in two waiting cars.

Investigation and Arrests

SSP Satpal Antil personally monitored the case. Investigators quickly noticed that the digital locks were not tampered with. CCTV footage and electronic surveillance rapidly shifted suspicion toward Imran's youngest daughter Areeba. Interrogations revealed that Areeba had been in a long-term relationship with one Arshad Varsi (27). As Imran opposed their marriage due to caste differences, the couple hatched a criminal plot to secure their financial independence.

“With no family approval and no means to elope, Areeba devised the plan,” said SSP Antil. “She told Arshad about the large sums of cash kept in the house and proposed the robbery so that they could live comfortably. Her plan was to marry Arshad immediately after the heist.”

Meticulous Planning

According to the police, the crime was meticulously coordinated. Areeba provided Arshad with a duplicate house key a month prior to the robbery. On the night of the crime, she waited for the gang to arrive and bypassed the second digital lock from the inside by pressing an interior release buzzer. The family was caught completely off guard as the armed men systematically stripped the home and fled.

Recoveries and Charges

Moradabad police have arrested five individuals in connection with the heist – Areeba, Arshad Varsi (27), Kuldeep Singh (26), Ravi Kumar (26), and Nikki Singh. Police have recovered ₹47 lakh in cash, the two vehicles, and the weapons used during the commission of the crime.
