The Bibvewadi police have arrested two unemployed youngsters from Upper Indiranagar for allegedly robbing a food delivery executive of his mobile phone and cash. The incident occurred late Monday night when the suspects lured the victim to an isolated location under the pretext of placing a food order.
Details of the Incident
The complainant, Aniket Lohar (24), a resident of Katraj and a food delivery executive, lodged a complaint with the Bibvewadi police on Tuesday. According to Senior Inspector Ashwini Satpute of the Bibvewadi police station, the suspects were identified as Ketan Temkar (23) and Khushal Shinde (24), both residents of Upper Indiranagar. The police traced the phone number used to place the food order and apprehended the duo.
Recovery of Stolen Items
Satpute stated that the stolen mobile phone and a portion of the robbed cash have been recovered from the accused. The total value of the stolen items was Rs 5,700.
Motive Behind the Crime
According to the police, the duo was facing financial difficulties and devised a plan to rob a food delivery executive to meet their expenses. They allegedly placed a food order and directed Lohar to deliver it to a secluded spot in Upper Indiranagar. When Lohar arrived with the parcel, the two men overpowered him, threatened him with dire consequences, and robbed him before fleeing the scene.
Further investigation is underway to determine if the suspects were involved in similar crimes.
