Amit Shah Visit to Kangra: Traffic Restrictions on Dec 20 for SSB Event
Traffic Plan for Amit Shah's Kangra Visit on Dec 20

Union Home Minister Amit Shah's scheduled visit to Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district has prompted local authorities to implement a comprehensive traffic management plan. The visit is for the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) foundation day event at the SSB Training Centre in Sapri on December 20.

Complete Road Closures During Home Minister's Movement

According to the police advisory, vehicular movement will be completely restricted on several key routes from 11:15 am on December 20 until Amit Shah reaches the venue. The restrictions are designed to ensure security and smooth passage for the convoy.

The specific stoppage points are:

  • All vehicles coming from Dehra towards Jawalamukhi will be halted at Kathog.
  • Vehicles moving from Nadaun to Jawalamukhi, Kangra, and Dehra will be stopped at Ganju Da Bagh bypass.
  • Traffic coming from Kangra and Ranital heading towards Jawalamukhi and Nadaun will be stopped at the Sapri bypass.
  • Vehicles coming from Jawalamukhi towards Khola, Sapri, Khudiyal, and Ranital will be stopped by police at the Khidki bridge.

Extended Restrictions and Alternative Routes

The police have stated that from 2 pm onwards, until the Home Minister departs after the event, movement on all the aforementioned routes will remain fully restricted. This two-phase restriction is expected to cause significant disruptions for commuters in the area.

In light of the closures, the police have issued a list of alternative routes for emergency travel:

  • Vehicles traveling from Nadaun to Kangra and Dehra can use the Bharoli Chowk - Ranta – Dhawala route.
  • Vehicles moving from Jawalamukhi to Kangra and Dehra are advised to take the Dhawala route.

Commuters are urged to plan their journeys in advance, account for considerable delays, and strictly follow the directives of the police personnel deployed on the ground. The visit underscores the high-security protocols involved in the movement of senior national leaders.
