Telangana Transport Dept Collects ₹5,142 Crore in 9 Months of FY 2025-26
Telangana Transport Revenue Hits ₹5,142 Crore

The Transport Department of Telangana has announced a robust revenue collection of ₹5,142 crore for the first nine months of the current financial year, spanning from April to December 2025. This significant figure represents 83% of the department's ambitious target set for this period.

Breaking Down the Revenue Streams

The impressive revenue haul was generated from multiple sources within the department's purview. The largest contributor was life tax collections, which brought in a substantial ₹3,611 crore. Following this, quarterly taxes added another ₹730 crore to the state's coffers.

Other notable revenue streams included various fees totalling ₹408 crore, service charges contributing ₹153 crore, and enforcement and inspection-related collections amounting to ₹181 crore. A dedicated green tax also contributed ₹57 crore, highlighting the department's environmental initiatives.

Sankranti Season Brings Stern Warning for Operators

Alongside the revenue announcement, transport officials have issued a strict advisory to private bus operators across the state. With the festive Sankranti season leading to a surge in passenger traffic, the department is cracking down on malpractices.

Authorities have warned of stringent action against operators found engaging in violations such as:

  • Charging fares beyond the government-permitted limits.
  • Illegally transporting goods in passenger vehicles.
  • Operating stage carriage services in violation of their permit conditions.

Enhanced Enforcement and Future Outlook

The department has directed its enforcement wings to conduct special inspections of private buses statewide during this busy period. Vehicles found flouting norms will face immediate seizure, with legal proceedings initiated against both the operators and their management.

While the department's revenue target for the nine-month period was fixed at ₹6,165 crore, the achievement of ₹5,142 crore demonstrates strong fiscal performance. The focus now shifts to maintaining this momentum in the final quarter while ensuring safe, fair, and regulated transport services for all citizens, especially during major festivals like Sankranti.
