Telangana High Court Extends Stay on TGPSC Group-1 Results
The Telangana High Court has once again extended the interim stay on the controversial TGPSC Group-1 examination results case, pushing the next hearing to December 22, 2025. The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G M Mohiuddin made it clear that they expect no further adjournments in this high-stakes case affecting thousands of aspirants.
Court's Firm Stance Against Delays
During the hearing on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the bench expressed strong dissatisfaction with the repeated delays in the case. "We expect no more adjournments would be sought by any of the parties," the court explicitly stated while allowing the interim orders to continue until the next hearing date.
The court revealed that it had initially posted the matter for October 15, 2025, considering the urgency of the issue involved. However, the hearing had to be adjourned at that time because written submissions were not ready from some of the respondents and writ petitioners. The bench emphasized that they had scheduled the November 18 hearing with the expectation that all parties would be prepared with their written submissions well in advance.
Legal Proceedings and Delays
Advocate General A Sudharshan Reddy and counsel representing the appellants requested additional time from the court, citing that a 75-page written submission had been filed by one of the counsels representing the respondents just a day before the hearing. This late submission became the primary reason for seeking the adjournment.
The court noted that while written submissions from other parties had been submitted earlier, the detailed submission from one group of successful writ petitioners arrived only on the eve of the hearing. Taking into account these circumstances and the court's schedule in the coming weeks, the bench decided to post the matter for proper effective hearing on December 22.
Background of the Case
The legal battle dates back to September 9 when a single judge order set aside the results of the Telangana Public Service Commission's Group-1 Mains examination announced on March 10 and the general rank list of candidates published on March 30. The single judge had also ordered either re-evaluation of answer sheets or directed the Commission to re-conduct the examination within eight months.
However, the Division Bench granted a stay on this single bench order on September 24, providing temporary relief to the affected candidates and the Commission. The court also recalled observations made by the Supreme Court in a special leave petition order dated October 7, which was passed in response to the challenge against the interim relief granted in the present appeal.
Implications for Appointments
According to the interim order in the appeals, any appointments made by the Telangana Public Service Commission during this period will be subject to the final outcome of the writ appeals. This means that all recruitment processes and job offers remain conditional until the court delivers its final verdict.
The counsel for the parties indicated that the hearing is expected to last at least two to three days, highlighting the complexity and significance of the case. With the court's clear warning against further delays and the statement that "no more written submissions will be entertained," all parties are expected to come fully prepared for the December 22 hearing.
The TGPSC Group-1 examination case has been closely watched by thousands of job aspirants in Telangana, with the repeated adjournments causing anxiety among candidates awaiting final resolution of their career prospects. The December hearing is now crucial for determining the future of these recruitment processes.
