Telangana Governor Urges Joint Effort for Drug-Free State

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday stated his support for all good initiatives of the state government while also pointing out any mistakes. He called upon students, parents, officials, and other sections of society to unite in making Telangana a drug-free state.

Anti-Drug Pledge and Student Kits Distribution

Speaking after distributing the ‘Young India Student Welcome Kits’ and administering an anti-drug pledge to students at the L.B. Stadium, the Governor referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a drug-free India. He urged Telangana to transform this campaign into a people’s movement by ensuring homes, villages, and panchayats are free from drugs.

Call for Vigilance and Education

Governor Shukla encouraged parents to remain vigilant about changes in their children’s behavior and advised students to stay away from bad influences and report drug-related issues without fear. He emphasized, “Telangana can set an example for the nation by ensuring that every school is safe, every child is educated, and every youth remains healthy, energetic, and drug-free.”

Value of Student Kits

Highlighting the importance of students as assets of the present and future of India, the Governor praised the state government’s initiative of providing student kits. Day scholars receive kits worth about ₹1,500, while residential students get kits worth nearly ₹3,000, containing books, uniforms, and other essential educational materials.

Governor Shukla termed the initiative more than a welfare program, stating it reflects the vision of ensuring equal opportunities, self-confidence, and quality education for every child.
