Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will hold a cabinet meeting at Medaram in Mulugu district this Sunday. This marks a significant departure from tradition, as it will be the first time in the state's history that such a meeting takes place outside Hyderabad.
A Historic Move for Telangana
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy emphasized the importance of this decision. He noted that cabinet meetings were never held outside the state capital, even during the undivided Andhra Pradesh era. He described the move to convene the meeting at Medaram as a historic milestone for Telangana.
The meeting will be chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Haritha hotel in Medaram. Key issues on the agenda include the upcoming municipal elections, budgetary allocations for welfare schemes, river water disputes, and the chief minister's forthcoming investment-seeking visits to Davos and the United States.
Focus on District-Level Development
Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka expressed strong support for holding cabinet meetings in districts. She stated that she would propose periodic meetings in different districts across Telangana.
Seethakka believes this approach will help local elected representatives, including MLAs, MLCs, MPs, and ministers, to focus more effectively on district-level development. She added that it would also provide senior officials with a clearer understanding of local issues and pending projects.
CM's Packed Schedule
According to the schedule, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has a busy day planned for Sunday. He is expected to visit Khammam in the morning to lay foundation stones for various development works.
Later, he will attend the CPI centenary celebrations and a public meeting in Khammam. In the evening, he will proceed to Medaram for the cabinet meeting.
On Monday morning, the chief minister will inaugurate the renovated Sammakka and Saralamma temple in Medaram. He will then return to Hyderabad later in the day before departing for Davos.
A New Chapter in Governance
This move signals a potential shift in how the Telangana government operates. By taking the cabinet to the districts, the administration aims to bridge the gap between state-level decision-making and ground realities.
The meeting in Medaram represents more than just a change of venue. It symbolizes a commitment to decentralized governance and greater attention to regional development needs across Telangana.
